Officials Encourage Boating Safety After Four Deaths In 2011

The St. Bernard Parish Sheriff's Office is taking a proactive approach at preventing fatal boating accidents. Four people have died on their parish waters in 2011.

The Sheriff's Office ordered 50 safety signs and Tuesday they went boat launch to boat launch putting them out.
In July, 12-year-old Samantha Vinturella of Mandeville was killed in a boating crash near Shell Beach. Back in June, 66-year-old Donald Neal died and many others were injured when two boats collided near the Breton Sound marina. And on March 19th, two New Orleans brothers were killed on St. Parish waters.
